The house has been in a particular kind of mood this week.
There's a version of August where everything slows to a crawl and nothing gets made. That's not what's happening here. The counter has been busy, the conversations have been good and the pile this week arrived with the kind of loose energy that only comes when people are genuinely enjoying what they're doing rather than managing it.
Zidane has been on the wall since his appointment. Not because we put him there deliberately, far from it, we’re seeing the house continue to return to people who did something so complete that the culture never quite finished processing it. That quality of leaving something unresolved in the best possible way has been the undercurrent of most conversations at the counter this week.
Escape to Paradise came up Wednesday and felt less like a reference and more like a instruction. Someone in the house has clearly made a decision about how they want the rest of summer to feel and the rest of the pile followed suit. Warm cities, fountain squares, the particular pink of a building that's been standing long enough to earn its colour.
Franklin Perez, Store Manager, 1010 S. Olive Street. The Bonnie card sitting there like a reminder that the best personal branding has always been this simple. The house appreciated that one over a long Wednesday espresso and it sparked fifteen minutes on what we actually mean when we talk about identity.
The dog in the Stüssy cap. No notes.
A warm shot of the good stuff on ice.
